Before we get too far into 2015, we wanted to take one more look at 2014 and discuss a few things that we didn’t get a chance to go into. So much happened in the past 12 months that we had the pick of the litter in what to talk about. Why we talked about Total Divas, we’re still not sure… Anyway here are 5 things that happened that we wanted to spotlight.
5. Highlight Reel: You Still Got It
Wrestlers come back to the ring ever year. Guys like Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam appear in WWE rings every not and again. John Morrison made a full time return to in-ring action in Lucha Underground after spending some time in Hollywood working on his other talents. But our favorite return to wrestling came from TNA. Sharkboy was challenged to a match by Ethan Carter III, who was looking for a competitor for his new bodyguard, Tyrus. Naturally, he was up for the challenge even if he wasn’t in what we call, “fighting shape.”
It’s becoming a tradition to take in a wrestling show during the Holiday season. This year, the WWE’s Holiday Tour hit the Nassau Coliseum just 2 days after Christmas. And the WWE was still in the giving season as they provided us with NXT champion Sami Zayn!
He faced Adrian Neville, the man that Gravity forgot and also the man that Zayn defeated for the title. These two, largely unknown to the Nassau fans, showed us just a little of what they’re capable of. Sami Zayn took flight, diving from the middle of the ring onto Neville who was on the floor.
Sami followed that up by hitting his finisher, the Helluva Kick:
to secure the victory, convincing the Nassau crowd to plunk down $9.99 to watch NXT on the WWE Network.
