I Was There: #WWEMSG (02/27/15) aka Hulk Hogan Appreciation Night

The night kicked off with a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship between Champion Wade Barrett, Title Holder Dean Ambrose and resident Show Off Dolph Ziggler. Dean and Dolph briefly teamed up to the take Wade Barrett out of the equation.

Dean was temporarily disposed off via a Ziggler Superkick; Barrett hit the Bullhammer to win the match and reclaim his title. That is, until Ambrose recovered, attacked Barrett and absconded with the title once again. Wade, at least you’re still Intercontinental Champion (in name).

The Tag Team Champions – Tyson Kidd and Cesaro – faced The New Day over their titles.  Something strange happened in Madison Square Garden during this match. The New Day turned into The Boo Day so quickly. For whatever reason, MSG did not embrace the positivity of the New Day, despite what Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were accomplishing in the ring. They had control of the tag team champions for the majority of the match; Kofi Kingston’s abilities were on full display. His aerial technique is so effortless that it’s stunning, like this Boom Drop

Kidd took advantage and delivered a flying elbow while Kofi was mid-backbreaker, a nice tribute to the Demolition Devastation. Kidd and Cesaro were able to get earn the victory by being one step ahead of the New Day ultimately. Maybe the MSG crowd affected the New Day just enough.
