In Highlight Reel, 3MB will look at funny and interesting wrestling videos
As much as I am looking forward to seeing the return of Rob Van Dam at WWE at Money in the Bank (in Philadelphia no less!), Rob made a significant contribution to TNA during his time. He was able to capture the X-Division and World Titles. He reignited his legendary feud with Jerry Lynn and had series of matches with the likes of AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. His decision to return to the WWE, naturally, affected TNA’s relationship with him.

Shot of the Clearance Bin at TNA Basebrawl 2013. (If you look closely, it looks like an Aces and Eights Member is hiding in the bin!) |
Impact Wrestling had to throw their remaining RVD merchandise in the Clearance bin, right? that’s just a business decision. Still, the thing I will miss the most isn’t the neon colored shirts: it’s his TNA Entrance Music:
The highlight of TNA Basebrawl 2012 – aside from watching wrestling in a baseball stadium – was the crowd reaction to this theme. Much like RVD’s offense, it’s loud, and starts off in a heartbeat. Everyone leaped to their feet screaming “ROB VAN DAM!” after that first guitar squeal. And everyone knows the words to his theme. How could you not? They’re based on 2 things: his name and his moves: Van Damninator, Van Terminator, FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH! Unfortunately, he was never able to break out that lyrically promised “Van Assassinator” but maybe that will be unveiled at Money In the Bank.
