SummerSlam is upon us and, this year, the biggest part of the Summer has 3 official themes: “Lights Go Out” by Fozzy, “Goin’ Down” by Flo Rida featuring Sage the Gemini and “Sunshine” by Teddybears. When it comes to themes, the WWE likes to give you options. If you prefer Chris Jericho the Wrestler to Chris Jericho the Singer, you still have Flor Rida and Teddybears. If you don’t consider Flo Rida, a musician, then 1) Welcome to ThreeManBooth.com 2) you still have “Lights Go Out” and “Sunshine” for your listening pleasure. And if you still have a bitter taste in your mouth from Teddybears’ “Cobrastyle” being a theme for SummerSlam 2006, then you choose one of the other two.

But before WWE Pay Per Views had themes, they would occasionally have anthems. One of the more infamous anthems was in 1993. The main event was Lex Luger taking on Yokozuna for the WWF World Heavyweight championship. Luger campaigned to face the Champion after successfully hip-tossing body slamming Yokozuna on the deck of the USS Intrepid.

Part of his campaign including touring the United States in a bus that was decked out in the style of the American Flag while wearing every piece of American Flag memorabilia he could find: shirts, t-shirts, pants, ties, sweat shirts and track pants sans shirt! All in the name of America.

I Was There: TNA Destination X

In β€œI Was There” 3MB provides a first hand account of a things we attend.

The Hammerstein Ballroom and The Grand Ballroom, the space above the Hammerstein, have been an important part of wrestling history. The walls probably found nicks and dents from all the several promotions they’ve hosted over the years; WWF Monday Night RAW originated from The Grand Ballroom (it was then known as The Manhattan Center); that same space was a staple for ECW shows during its run. Ring of Honor has held shows in both venues; even during Wrestlemania 29 weekend, ROH called the Grand Ballroom its home, hosting both PPVs and TV Tapings there.Β  This past June, TNA made their debut in the Grand Ballroom. During their 3 days of TV Tapings, they taped one of their PPV-on-TV series: Destination X.

3MB_20140626_TNANYC_0029In between the matches, Jeremey Borash, TNA’s resident hype man, went into the ring to thank everyone for being there. It was a dream for TNA to be in New York City. To show their appreciation, they spent the night making dreams come true. Outside the ring, they were pulling fans from the audience to be part of autograph signing backstage. In the ring, they were putting on dream matches, like the first time encounter between The Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) and they Hardy Boyz, Matt and Jeff. Both teams understood the importance of their meeting and had the utmost respect for each other.

3MB_20140626_TNANYC_0059But that wasn’t the only dream that came true that night. TNA brought up New York’s relationship to the Extreme and had a 8-man Hardcore War match. EC3 led a team of Rhyno, the last original ECW champion, Ryklon (formerly Ezekiel Jackson, the last ECW champion in the WWE era) and Gene “It’s Not My Fault” Snitsky against Tommy Dreamer, Team 3D and … a surprise partner: Al Snow! The crowd was given foam heads to head bang along with Snow to the strobe lights and a Prodigy-esque tune.

But that wasn’t the end of dreams becoming true that night.

Triple H says he’s not standing here as the C.O.O, or The Game, After Triple H and Stephanie McMahon kiss, but Brie Bella says to get on with it before everyone here starts throwing up.

Stephanie McMahon tells Brie Bella that she should be more understanding about supportive spouses, then mocks her “Hippy Dippy Husband” Daniel Bryan and his long road to recovery.

After a loud “YES” chant, Brie says Daniel is still recovering, then asks if Stephanie is still recovering from her arrest. Brie Bella shows a video of Stephanie and Brie’s altercation.

Brie Bella asks Stephanie McMahon if it was easier for her to exchange her power suit for an orange jumpsuit. Brie continues to joke, asking if it was easier for Stephanie McMahon to trade in Triple H for her cellmate, Big Beulah.

Brie Bella tells Stephanie McMahon that not only will she beat her at Summerslam, she will embarrass her in front of the entire WWE Universe. Brie says she is going to send a whole message to the world that the great, powerful Stephanie McMahon is nothing but a fraud, failure and an embarrassment to the McMahon Family.

Brie Bella says this is not just for her, Nikki or Daniel Bryan. This is for Vickie Guerrero, The Big Show, Rhodes Family and every other person on the roster who she tortured for her own amusement.

Stephanie McMahon says she is a 4th Generation McMahon and Brie is nothing more than a wanna be reality star, who abandoned her husband and stole the spotlight from her sister just to make a name off of her at Summerslam. Stephanie tells Brie that if she looks in the mirror, she will see a selfish, conceited, shell of a woman.

Stephanie McMahon calls out Brie Bella on her plan to embarrass Stephanie. Stephanie tells Brie that she’s embarrassed to even be in the same ring as her. Stephanie tells Brie that at Summerslam, she will put an end to Brie’s pathetic attempt to make history. Stephanie McMahon signs the contract then tells Brie Bella at at Summerslam, she is going to tear her heart out.
