Highlight Reel: Dead Man Ballin’

In Highlight Reel, 3MB will look at funny and interesting wrestling videos

The NBA Finals are in full swing which each game being more entertaining than the previous one. As the defending champs the Miami Heat take on seasoned veterans the San Antonio Spurs in a best of 7 tied at 2 games a piece, it seems this year will see a full 7 games and momentum at that point will be vital. By that 7th game, or the rubber match as us wrestling fans know it, either team will use any resource possible to win. The Spurs might have started early, invoking some psychological warfare in Game 4: when announcing the starting lineup for The Heat, their arena played the Undertaker’s theme!

What did it mean?
Was the rarely seen in public Undertaker in attendance?
Does The Undertaker follow the Spurs the same way CM Punk follows the Chicago Blackhawks ?

In all likelihood, it was probably the Music Director’s attempt to psyche out the Miami Heat by playing a funeral dirge, which in itself is not a bad plan. A little cocky, but not a bad plan. The only mistake was the song selection. The NBA Finals are the Wrestlemania of Basketball and the Undertaker at Wrestlemania is The Undertaker at Wrestlemania: unbeatable. Is Taker’s theme responsible for The Heat’s victory over The Spurs in Game 4? Maybe, but the 30+ points by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade probably had more to do with it. Also, the fact that The Heat blocked enough shots to make a montage. A montage! We’re not calling the Miami Heat the Undertaker of the NBA but maybe they are taking over.

Vickie Guerrero interrupts Daniel Bryan, Kane and Randy Orton then informs them that this Sunday at Payback, two of them will be facing Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the WWE Tag Team Titles. Mr. McMahon says he heard what they both had to say about him, but his biggest problem was Triple H made his baby girl cry.

Stephanie McMahon says that Mr. McMahon made her cry because he crushed Triple H, but Mr. McMahon fires back saying to hell with Triple H’s pride. Stephanie tries to get Vince to talk to Triple H, but Vince repeats Triple H’s line about not liking what he says.

Chris Jericho Speaks:

Chris Jericho welcomes us all to RAW in Jericho then says he’s said that phrase many times and faced many Superstars in his WWE Career, but CM Punk is the one that takes him to the limit and makes him a better performer. After a loud CM Punk chant, Jericho says the reason that Punk is so damn good is because Punk actually believes that he’s The Best In The World, then says he believes the same thing about himself.

Chris Jericho says he and CM Punk came into the business the same way, have the same chip on their shoulder and accepts nothing but the best. Jericho says this Sunday at Payback, Punk/Jericho III will continue the classic trilogy of matches and he promises that at Payback, CM Punk will get his best. Jericho claims he needs to beat CM Punk at Payback, but no matter what happens, after Punk/Jericho III, neither he or CM Punk will never….EEEEEEEVER be the same. Suddenly, Jericho is interrupted by Dolph Ziggler!

Dolph Ziggler comes out and tells Chris Jericho that since he was talking about the best performers in the world, he thought that this would be a perfect time to make his triumphant return to RAW. Dolph says his nameplate wasn’t even on the World Heavyweight Championship before he almost got it taken away from him because of a concussion and that wasn’t fair. Dolph says it’s pretty obvious no one ever wanted him to ever wanted to be the World Heavyweight Champion, but he came out every single night, stole the show and earned it. Ziggler says this Sunday, he’s going to prove to Alberto Del Rio that he’s the better than him in every single way.

Dolph Ziggler continues to talk about how he’s better than Alberto Del Rio until Chris Jericho interrupts Dolph Ziggler with “Blahs.” Jericho calls Dolph Ziggler out on wasting time talking about this Sunday when tonight is Monday Night RAW. Jericho thinks Ziggler should have a tune up match and challenges him to a match tonight.

Dolph Ziggler teases a match with Chris Jericho then accepts…on Big E. Langston’s behalf. Ziggler says he’ll be at Payback then tells Big E to get Jericho.

Mr. McMahon complains about the Face-To-Face tonight with Ryback and John Cena, claiming someone will get hurt. McMahon tries to get Vickie to make a different match, but Brad Maddox chimes in and suggests to put the lumberjacks outside the ring so Cena and Ryback won’t attack each other. McMahon like the idea and tells Vickie that she should share her burger with Maddox then walks off.

Match 06: Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns

Daniel Bryan makes his way down to the ring.

The match begins:

Daniel Bryan starts a “YES” chant.

Match 07: Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins

Daniel Bryan locks Seth Rollins in an even more painful surfboard!

The crowd chants “NO” every time Seth Rollins punches Daniel Bryan, but chants “YES!” every time Daniel Bryan punches Seth Rollins.

Daniel Bryan does the Chaos Theory on Seth Rollins!

Roman Reigns tries to interfere but Randy Orton trips him.

Daniel Bryan does a Small Package on Seth Rollins!

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Post-match, Randy Orton hits the RKO on Roman Reigns.

Kaitlyn’s Secret Admirer Revealed:

Kaitlyn tells the Secret Admirer here she is and tells the Admirer to show themselves. Out comes Big E. Langston with clothes and flowers.

Kaitlyn is shocked that it’s Big E. Langston, who hands her the flowers. Big E. tells Kaitlyn he knows this is unexpected, especially after what happened earlier. Big E. tells Kaitlyn that people only see him as Dolph’s heavy and as a guy that beats people up, but he cares about more than that. He cares about Kaitlyn, Big E. Langston confesses to Kaitlyn that ever since he first laid eyes on her, she was all he could think about, but he didn’t know how to tell her until now.

Big E. wraps his arms around Kaitlyn, dips her and looks like he’s about to kiss her, but drops Kaitlyn instead!

AJ Lee comes out skipping!

AJ Lee asks Kaitlyn if she feels worthless, alone and broken because that’s how AJ felt when Kaitlyn abandoned her during her times with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and John Cena. AJ claimed all three Superstars used her and shattered her like glass then calls Kaitlyn out on chasing the Divas Title instead of helping her best friend. AJ says even shattered glass, if you handle it wrong, can cut you pretty deep.

Kaitlyn calls AJ crazy, but AJ laughs it off and tells Kailtyn that she’s smart. AJ tells Kaitlyn that she used to put her on a pedestal, but now she gets to shove Kaitlyn off and laugh as she falls all the way down. AJ calls Kaitlyn sad, weak and pitiful trash who has no one or friends and claims no one gives a damn about her. AJ says the only think Kaitlyn has that’s worth anything is the Divas title, but come Sunday, Kaitlyn won’t even have that.

AJ tells Kaitlyn that she’s not going to like how this story ends because she’s going to lose and AJ will get everything that she ever wanted. AJ claims Kaitlyn is going to run back to whatever trailer park she ran out of with a remote in one hand, junk food in the other, eating her emotions like a worthless, pathetic, useless unloveable cow. Kaitlyn responds like this…

Kaitlyn attacks AJ Lee until AJ manages to break free and run away. AJ laughs at Kaitlyn, blows a kiss then skips off as Kaitlyn looks sad in the ring.

Match 08: Damien Sandow vs. R-Truth

Damien Sandow says for the last fortnight, he’s been engaged in a battle of wit against the “Not-So Great White” Sheamus, a battle that was clearly won by him. Sandow says this Sunday at Payback Kickoff, he will prove that he is not only Sheamus’ intellectual superior, but also his physical superior. Sandow claims he’s going to do the same thing to his ignoramus opponent this evening.

Winner: Damien Sandow

Post-Match, Sheamus interrupts Damien Sandow’s victory to “congratulate him.” Sheamus brings up his match against Damien Sandow at Payback Kickoff and thinks kicking off Sandow’s head is the perfect way to start the PPV.

Backstage: Stephanie McMahon tells someone to find Mr. McMahon and meet him in their office because it’s about business. Stephanie tells someone else to find Triple H and meet her in their office and that it’s personal.

Backstage: Stephanie McMahon brings Mr. McMahon and Triple H into the same office and the two start arguing until Stephanie McMahon screams, tells them to work it out and leaves.

Triple H wants an apology but Mr. McMahon tells him that he did the right thing because Triple H is bigger than Curtis Axel. Mr. McMahon talks about Triple H’s career and accomplishments and calls him an icon, but wants him to be more than that. Mr. McMahon tells Triple H he wants him to be the man who sits behind the desk with a pencil and eraser that tells people to “Go To Hell!” when he needs to.

Mr. McMahon calls himself a giver and Triple H calms down. Mr. McMahon gives Triple H the match against Curtis Axel, but Triple H doesn’t want it anymore. The two argue about the match until Stephanie McMahon walks in and suggests that they hug it out. After some convincing, the three do a group hug then Mr. McMahon walks off.

John Cena/Ryback Face-Off:

The Lumberjacks Walk Out:

Ryback refuses to come to the ring and John Cena calls him out on not wanting to meet face-to-face. Cena brings up Vickie Guerrero bringing out the lumberjacks for tonight but mentions that this Sunday will be different because the lumberjacks will make sure Ryback doesn’t pull a stunt like this. Ryback claims he can tear through Cena, the lumberjacks and everyone in the audience if he wanted to. Ryback says he’s standing her for Cena’s benefit, not his. Cena calls him out on trying to send a message of pain, and he gets that, but Ryback cuts Cena off when Cena mentions the WWE Championship.

Ryback claims he should’ve been the WWE Champion at least three times by now, but he was screwed over. Cena brings up giving Ryback his spot at Hell In A Cell, which Ryback agrees, but adds on that’s when the problems started. Ryback says he got too good too fast which made John Cena go to damage control. Ryback claims Cena only had Ryback’s back when it suited him, but most of the time left him high and dry.

John Cena calls Ryback a man and asks Ryback if he wanted him to hold his hand and change his diaper. Ryback tries to speak but Cena tells him to shut up. Cena claims he’s been here a long time, had no guardian angel to watch his back and didn’t need one if he wanted to be the WWE Champion. Cena calls Ryback the most genetically gifted Superstar in the WWE, but claims he spends too much time bitching and making excuses. Cena says he’s going to walk into Hell this Sunday, but walk out screaming “The Champ Is Here!”

Ryback says John Cena can say whatever he wants but he can see Cena’s full of crap. Ryback tells Cena that if he thinks that he’s going to back down this Sunday, Cena’s out of his mind. Ryback claims the legend of John Cena will end this Sunday at Payback when he finally becomes WWE Champion. Ryback says 8 months ago, Cena gave him his spot, but this Sunday, Ryback will take his spot. Cena takes off his shirt and says that this Sunday, for either him or Ryback, “Payback’s a bitch!” Cena charges at Ryback but is stopped by the Lumberjacks.

Ryback tries to attack John Cena but Cena pulls down the top rope. The lumberjacks throw John Cena in the ring.

Ryback and John Cena try to fight each other, but the lumberjacks hold them back.

I Was There: The End of CHIKARA?

In “I Was There” 3MBooth provides a first hand account of a things we attend.

Last week, The Summer Of Wrestling unofficially started as  several companies held shows all over the U.S.  EVOLVE dominated the Florida territories with the three iPPVs throughout the weekend. WWE Hall Of Famer, Mick Foley, made a huge step in his comedy career and performed at Caroline’s on Broadway for the first time. CHIKARA and TNA iMPACT Wrestling celebrated their 11th Anniversary Shows in Philadelphia and Boston, respectively. With so much wrestling on, we at Three Man Booth needed to attend at least one of these events, so we spun The Halloween Havoc Wheel and it landed on CHIKARA: Aniversaro: Never Compromise.

Thousands of CHIKARA Army members entered the Trocadero in Philadelphia for CHIKARA’s Annivesary Show. Fans not in the area? well, they watched at home on iPPV. From the moment we got inside, CHIKARA did not disappoint. Scarlett Bordeaux kept us entertained during the pre-show shenanigans until we had our first match: Mr. Touchdown w/ Dasher Hatfield vs. Saturyne in a rematch from the Young Lions Cup.

While the entire card was solid, here are a few matches and moments that stood out for us.

Saturyne vs. Mr. Touchdown: Mark Angelosetti
Mr. Touchdown Tebow-ing
Dasher Hatfield
Dasher Hatfield gets the better of Delirious

The Colony vs. The Devastation Corporation
Green Ant sneaking around (RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!)
Planning a huge jump …
then following through!
Icarus’ Marty Jannetty-tribute.

There was much more we enjoyed from CHIKARA, but the biggest shocker of the night came at the end of the show, during the Icarus and Eddie Kingston match for the CHIKARA Grand Championship. Icarus was seconds away from becoming defeating Kingston and becoming the new Grand Champion, when suddenly, Condor Security swooped in,  cleared Icarus and Kingston out of the ring, and proceeded to tear down the set.

CHIKARA’s Director of Fun, Wink Vavaseeur stood there, watching the chaos ensue.

Condor Security took it one step further by berating the CHIKARA Army to leave the arena.

After the informed us that the show was actually over, the crowd immediately began protesting. We  chanted, “WE WON’T GO!” over Condor Security’s ushering us out of the arena. Of of the many wrestling shows we’ve been to, we’ve never seen anything like that night at CHIKARA. We couldn’t wait to find out more about this story(line?). Then the news broke that CHIKARA may be shutting its doors for good!

Condor Security telling me to get the camera out his face

We haven’t been to many CHIKARA shows, but the ones we’ve attended have always been a great mix of entertainment and pro wrestling. The promotion found a way to put on great matches with compelling storylines and not taking itself too seriously. We hope this isn’t the end for CHIKARA, but if it is, Thank You for great matches, for memorable characters and for always reminding us that Wrestling Is Fun.

So That Happened: 06/03/13

Justin Roberts introduces Stephanie McMahon!

Stephanie McMahon says that it’s great to be back on RAW but wishes it was under better circumstances. Stephanie brings up Triple H’s matches against Brock Lesnar and Curtis Axel, then reminds us that Triple H was unable to finish the match with Axel. Stephanie informs us that even though Triple H is medically cleared tonight, she has made an Executive Decision to not allow Triple H to compete against Curt Axel, a Superstar who she feels is beneath him.

Stephanie McMahon tries to reason with us by saying Triple H has given us his life and body and tells us that this decision is not about the WWE Universe. After a loud Triple H chant, Stephanie asks us to not be so selfish.

Mr. McMahon’s theme plays and the crowd cheers as he comes out.

Mr. McMahon embraces the cheers then says the WWE Universe is happy to see him. McMahon says he’s happy to see them, but he has a personal request. McMahon asks the WWE to not boo his daughter Stephanie, which only makes the crowd boo more. McMahon tries to reason with the WWE Universe and tells them to have some compassion because she’s right.

Mr. McMahon starts to speak about Triple H’s well-being but he’s cut off by a loud Triple H chant.

Mr. McMahon says Triple H has given everything he possibly can as Stephanie McMahon says she loves him more than the WWE Universe. Mr. McMahon adds on by saying they both care more about Triple H and that he will NOT compete tonight.

The crowd boos as a loud Triple H chant breaks out. Mr. McMahon asks what the crowd wants from him? Mr. McMahon reminds us that WWE is Family Entertainment and not a “Blood Sport.” Mr. McMahon brings up Kofi Kingston being attacked by Ryback as an example as the WWE Universe chanted “One More Time.” McMahon says there won’t be One More Time for Triple H and that not only is Curtis Axel “beneath” Triple H, but the WWE Universe might be beneath him as well.

The Shield’s theme plays and The Shields make their way down to the ring. \

Bryan calls Orton out on his apology then says he knew Kane thought he was the weak link, but now Orton thinks he’s the weak link. Bryan starts blaming himself until Kane and Randy Orton try to calm him down. Bryan claims Randy Orton can’t apologize to him because they don’t respect him. Kane says he does respect Bryan and that Bryan has lost touch with reality. Bryan says the reality is that he’s the “Weak Link.”

Randy Orton tells Daniel Bryan that it was one match and Bryan loses it further. Bryan says one match could have solidified that he is NOT the weak link and he could have earned everybody’s respect. Bryan says that didn’t happen and since it’s clear that the two of them don’t respect him, he’s going to have another match and beat the respect out of someone else. Bryan says maybe then, Randy Orton and Kane will finally respect him, then storms off.

Backstage: Triple H enters the arena looking for Mr. McMahon’s office. Triple H storms into Mr. McMahon’s office then hugs Stephanie and demands that he’s wrestling tonight.

Stephanie McMahon tries to reason with “Paul,” but Triple H refuses to listen. Mr. McMahon asks Triple H what happened to the Cerebral Assassin because the Cerebral Assassin isn’t being too Cerebral at the moment. Mr. McMahon tells Triple H that Curtis Axel is good and doesn’t want him to get hurt again. McMahon tells Triple H to get his ego out of this situation, but Triple H refuses to listen. Triple H says he’s going to the ring tonight to wrestle Curtis Axel. McMahon refuses and Triple H asks who’s going to stop him. Triple H tells Stephanie McMahon to tell that “Crazy Old Bastard” that next week, he’s going to wrestle Curtis Axel next week on RAW and there’s nothing he can do about it. Stephanie tries to reason with him, but Triple H leaves.

Backstage: Daniel Bryan kicks a table backstage then bumps into Ryback. Ryback tells Bryan to watch what he’s doing and that because of him, Kofi had surgery last Thursday. Bryan is unimpressed, but Ryback says that his throw up is bigger than Daniel Bryan. Bryan tells Ryback that he’s not going to run away, no matter how big and strong Ryback is.

Ryback tells Bryan that he’s truly lost his mind and tells him to prove it in a match with him tonight. Bryan tells Ryback to underestimate him and watch what happens. Ryback says he knows what’s going to happen because Bryan’s the weak link. But after the match tonight, Ryback claims Bryan will be The Missing Link.

Backstage: Mr. McMahon walks into Paul Heyman’s office then shakes Curtis Axel’s hand. Mr. McMahon ignores Heyman and tells Curtis Axel that he has an impressive future. McMahon informs Heyman that Curtis Axel will not be facing Triple H tonight. Paul Heyman tries to leave, but McMahon tells Heyman that Curtis Axel will still be in a match tonight…against John Cena in a No Disqualification Match.

Jerry Lawler informs the WWE Universe of the Contract Signing then brings out Chris Jericho

Jerry Lawler brings out Paul Heyman. Heyman takes the mic and says before he signs his agreement, which he could’ve signed in private, but since Jericho has an ego, he’s going to say it to Jericho’s face. Heyman starts praising CM Punk’s accomplishments, but Chris Jericho finishes it for him then adds Punk’s buzzcut and pizza, donut and ice cream sandwich tattoos to the list of accolades. Jericho says he doesn’t give a damn about any of those things. All Jericho cares about is Paul Heyman delivering CM Punk to Payback in Chicago on June 16th. Paul Heyman signs the contracts.

Chris Jericho is about to sign the contract, but Paul Heyman asks Jericho if he’s truly prepared to face the Best In The World, CM Punk, in Chicago. Heyman says although this arena is full of Jericholics, that won’t be the case in Chicago. Heyman mentions how CM Punk can do no wrong in Chicago and that Jericho will be vilified by the entire audience. Heyman tells Jericho that he may be “The Best In The World At What He Does,” but CM Punk is the Best In The World At What He Does, which is making liars out of people who think they can lay claim to the title of “Best In The World.”

Chris Jericho agrees with Paul Heyman about Chicago and thinks maybe they should have the match at Summerslam in August. Heyman says no, but Jericho requests his match with CM Punk at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Heyman says No again. Jericho requests a match tonight in Hartford, CT.

Paul Heyman says “No” again then Jericho signs the contract. Jericho says it doesn’t matter where you’re from, if you act like a jackass, you get treated like a jackass. Jericho says now that the contract has been signed, he and Paul Heyman have to figure out where to file the contract. Jericho says he has a really good idea where to file the contract, then compliments Jerry Lawler on his looks.

Chris Jericho gets out of his chair, then demands that Paul Heyman stand up. Jericho tells Heyman to unbutton his jacket before he rips it off.

After Heyman unbuttons his jacket, Jericho says he knows where the contract needs to be filed. Jericho stuffs the contract in Paul Heyman’s pants then tells Heyman that he’ll see him in Chicago.

Kane tells Bryan that doesn’t have anything to prove to him or to anyone else.

Daniel Bryan tells Kane that he’s wrong and that beating Ryback will prove that he has something to prove. Kane asks Bryan what he means by that and Bryan sceams at Kane, telling him he doesn’t want Kane anywhere near his match with Ryback tonight.
