So That Happened: Money In The Bank 2017

SmackDown Live AKA The Land Of Opportunity, usually delivers their A game for every show and WWE Network Event. It was only a matter of time before this streak came to an end. Money In The Bank was a night full of confusing finishes and twists.

After the pre-show match between The Hype Bros and The Colons (The Hype Bros won)

It was time for the match everyone was waiting for. The Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

The Women of SmackDown Live delivered with hard-hitting blows

And Charlotte Flair continued to put risk over reward.

The MITB Ladder Match seemed like a lock for Becky Lynch until James Ellsworth got involved.

Ellsworth literally climbed the ladder, unhooked it, and dropped the Money In The Bank Briefcase in Carmella’s hands.

Despite controversy, Carmella is first ever Women’s Money In The Bank winner.

In the WWE World Tag Team Title Match, The Usos damn near killed Kofi Kingston.

But that’s okay. Because Kofi almost did the same to The Usos!

But the match ended when The Usos channeled their inner Money Inc. and decided to get counted out.

Next was Lana vs. Naomi for the Women’s Championship.

Lana seemed on the cusp of victory until she was interrupted by Carmella, who contemplated cashing in!

She didn’t and the distraction was enough to give Naomi the victory against Lana.

Next, we were treated to a new episode of The Fashion Files: Fashion Vice

Breezango was trying to find Tyler Breeze’s attacker from last week. They get challenged by the mystery attackers to meet them in the ring tonight. (It’s The Ascension)

The surprises continued with the return of a former WWE Superstar and the debut of her husband!

Maria Kanellis introduced herself as the First Lady of WWE, and introduced her husband, Mike Kanellis.

Next up was the WWE Championship match between Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton. Before they introduced the contenders, they introduced St. Louis Legends like Sgt. Slaughter, Larry “The Axe” Hennig, “Cowboy” Bob Orton and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

It didn’t look good for Jinder Mahal, but he had his supporters.

The hometown hero, Randy Orton took advantage of the homecourt advantage.

Orton was on the verge of winning after an RKO, but the Singh Brothers put Jinder’s foot on the rope. After being ejected, then threatening Orton’s Father, Randy Orton went ballistic on the Singh Brothers.

The attempted murder of The Singh Brothers was all Mahal needed to catch Orton with the Full Nelson slam and retain the WWE Championship.

Before we got to the second Money In The Bank Ladder match, we watched Breezango defeat The Ascension because of course they did!

Finally! We get to the Main Event. The Money In The Bank Ladder Match! It starts off like any MITB with entrances for every competitor-

Regardless of Nakamura being taken out, the match continued. Sami Zayn tried to kill Kevin Owens.

Seriously.

Zayn was not playin’.

Neither was AJ Styles.

AJ Styles was close to winning, but Dolph Ziggler pulled the ladder from underneath him.

Just when Baron Corbin was ready to win the MITB, an angry Shinsuke Nakamura made his way back to the match.

After Nakamura took out Baron Corbin, it was down to Shinsuke and AJ Styles (who is somehow alive)

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura took their fight to the ladder, where Baron Corbin pushed them over and out of the match. This allowed Baron Corbin to become the 2017 Money In The Bank.

Regardless of what you think of the ending of MITB, or MITB as a whole, SmackDown Live is a must-watch show this Tuesday.
