3MB wants to Highlight The IWC; No Not that IWC. The Illustrated Wrestling Community
In the WWE, the Diva Revolution has begun. Stephanie McMahon introduced NXT’s Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks to the 3-sided feud between the trio of The Bella Twins and Alicia Fox, the duo of Naomi and Tamina, and the … oneness of Paige. This prompted the crowd to chant “THIS IS AWESOME!” before anything happened, a big achievement for any WWE Superstar. In the WWE, the Divas are Princesses; the Divas are Warriors. It’s now time to see the Warrior side unleashed.
Artist Mike Kendrick (no relation to The Brian Kendrick… that we know of) took this theme to another world of princesses – the Disney Universe – and merged it with the WWE. The result is a mashing of smart, sexy, powerful princesses who need not wait for any prince to save them. Kendrick infused Sleeping Beauty‘s Aurora with the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior. He took Disney’s Scottish princess, Merida from Brave, and paired her with the most popular Scotsman in WWE history: Rowdy Roddy Piper.
He made a few more combinations like Snow White and The Undertaker (they’re both in desperate need of sunblock) or Princess Jasmine from Aladdin with the Iron Sheik. He also depicted the latest Disney Princesses – Princess Elsa and Princess Anna of Frozen – as one of the most devilish tag teams in the history of the WWE: The Legion of Doom.
You should check out more of Kendrick’s artwork on Twitter, Tumblr, and Etsy. All of the Princesses of Wrestling prints are available for sale, along with other awesome designs. (Looking at you, Black Velvet painting of El Generico!)
