I Was There: WWE Axxess

Arguably, the NXT Superstar of Wrestlemania Weekend was Hideo Itami. Not only did he win the tournament to enter the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, not only did he face rival Tyler Breeze and introduce the GTS to his WWE Arsenal but he also wrestled again the next morning. He faced the formidable Solomon Crowe; the hacker of NXT that was ready to ruin Itami’s weekend.

3MB_WWEAXXESS_20150328_0045It takes more than a rear chinlock and a smirk to delay Itami. By the way, one of the interesting things about WWE Axxess is the way everything is positioned. The wrestling ring is near the back of the San Jose Convention Center, past Superstar signings, past the Elimination Chamber, past all the other attractions. But you can hear any ringside noise throughout the space. When Hideo’s music played, droves of fans sprinted to be ringside for this match. Maybe the additional fans motivated Itami in his match with Crowe. This strike certainly had some extra force behind it:

By then, everyone in attendance had surrounded the ring, waiting to see what Itami and Crowe would do next. Itami broke out the picture perfect hestitation corner dropkick, literally, picture perfect:

and got the victory over Solomon Crowe. With the rise of NXT, Axxess has become a place to go not only to re-live WWE’s history but to also get a glimpse into the future of Wrestlemania.
