Zach Looks Back: Royal Rumble 2011

– Yoshi Tatsu. Catchy theme music, but the Rumble was never his match. Remember 2010 when Cena needed two tries to toss him out because Tatsu botched the first attempt? Yea. Released earlier this year and now on the shelf after breaking his neck via Styles Clash. Get well soon, Yosh! (Released: 1-7)

– Husky Harris. In the immortal words of Kaval, Husky broke molds and labels, but what he breaks best were buffet tables. After a punt in the head knocked him out for 2.5 years, he came back in a Hawaiian shirt and white pants, and now commands the fireflies (it looks better than it sounds). Follow the buzzards indeed, but he doesn’t count on my list because WWE won’t acknowledge the history. Sorry, my rules. (Repackaged: 1-8)

– Chavo Guerrero. He hits my favorite spot in the Rumble with him hitting two amigos tres times, and finally hit a real three amigos to a pop. Ooh Chavo indeed. The former WWECW champ then requests his release and can be seen on Lucha Underground. (Quits: 1-9)

– Mark Henry. Comes to the ring, unfortunately sans salmon blazer, and does what he does. Mark’s a great hand in these rumbles, unfortunately looks like he’s injured again after heel turn #36, which is about 20 heel turns behind Big Show! (Injured: 1-10)

– JTG. Ah, the man Twitter released. When there was a mass release day in WWE earlier in 2014, Twitter was abuzz with when JTG would get the boot. The ironic and sad thing is, I’m pretty sure WWE had no idea the man was still really on the roster at all! So for all those tweeting about JTG, I put this on your hands! JTG lasts as long as he probably should have in this Rumble. (Released: 1-11)

– Michael McGillicutty. Ugh, the Genesis of the McGillicutty. Great wrestler, brutal name. Gets rechristend by Paul Heyman, has a nice feud with HHH, Bryan and Punk, and then forms a Step-Brothers style tag team with Ryback. Currently in NXT feuding with Hideo Itami. (Repackaged: NXT 1-12)

– Chris Masters. The former Masterpiece! Comes in, gets Punk in a full nelson, and is dumped by Nexus. If you want a good Chris Masters story, listen to Punk on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. Quite a good wrestler at the end of the road, though he would get a pink slip soon after this match. (Released: 1-13)

– David Otunga. Another former New Nexus member! His best work was captain of Team Johnny, as well as being Mr. Jennifer Hudson. Currently waiting for work in WWE, and also apparently starting a career in stand up. So get ready for some sick lawyer jokes… (MIA: 1-14)
