I Have Till 5: Five Wrestlemania Matches We Want to see in WWE2K14

Earlier this week, WWE Games and 2K Sports announced that WWE2K14 will feature a “30 Years Of Wrestlemania” Mode. Similar to WWE ’13’s Attitude Era Mode, this mode will consist of 45 Matches that showcase Wrestlemania’s rich history and allow the player (that’s you!) to re-live those classic Mania Moments. Or if you’re a younger fan, you can see them for the first time as cut-scenes.

But only 45 Matches? That’s a lot to choose from! If you want to truly incorporate as much of Wrestlemania’s 30 Year History as possible, here are 5 Mania Moments that we would like to see in this year’s WWE2K14.

1. Any Match from Wrestlemania 8.

It’s no secret that Wrestlemania 8 is our favorite Wrestlemania of all time. The rest of the world considers that Mania to be “The Mania That Never Was” due Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair not happening, but to us, it’s the one that started it all. Any match on this card would be perfect to play.
The Realistic Options: The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels vs. “El Matador” Tito Santana; Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. The Undertaker; the Intercontinental Championship classic between Bret “The Hitman” and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper; The WWF Championship Classic between “Macho Man” Randy Savage and “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.
The Unrealistic Options:  “The Native American” Tatanka vs. “The Model” Rick Martel; The Natural Disasters vs. Money Inc.; The Family Feud 8-Man Tag with Virgil’s “My Nose Is Protected” Promo; Owen Hart vs. Skinner. Although, Owen Hart vs. Skinner should be a definite favorite. Who wouldn’t love to roll up Skinner while playing as a Legend in Checkered Overalls and Hammer Pants?
As for the Main Event, Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice, we could do without that match. Just give us the last three minutes. You know, the moment that changed my life forever.

2. Falls Count Anywhere Matches:

After a long absence from previous WWE Games, Falls Count Anywhere Matches made their triumphant return in WWE ’12. WWE ’13 continued the tradition in their Attitude Era Mode and WWE2K14 should be no different. While there haven’t been many Falls Count Anywhere matches in Wrestlemania’s 30 Year History, two of them would be perfect for this upcoming game.

The Realistic Option: The Falls Count Anywhere Match: Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Crush from Wrestlemania 10.

Realistically, Savage vs. Crush is a perfect match for the game. There’s a heated rivalry, there’s weapons, it’s Madison Square Garden. It’s great. Imagine being able to go backstage to The Theater and there being a cut-scene involved where Macho Man ties up Crush?  And, you get Crush in the game! Hopefully with multiplemultipleMULTIPLE alternate attires.

The Unrealistic Option: The Hollywood Back Lot Brawl between “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Goldust from Wrestlemania 12.

Although this match ended in the ring, it would be amazing to play out of the ring. WWE2K14 could take a page from THQ’s former Franchise, Saint’s Row, and simulate the O.J. chase sequence parody complete with over the top commentary from Vince McMahon! WWE2K14 could also take a page from THQ’s Smackdown vs. RAW and use the Bra & Panties Engine for the part of the in-ring part of the match where Piper strips Goldust. Would it be awkward? Absolutely, but what’s Wrestlemania without its awkward moments?

3. Squash Matches:

A brief part of Wrestlemania’s history is the multiple squash matches that have happened over the past 30 Years. These matches, while probably difficult to play, should be included with a beat the clock feature.

The Realistic Options: The Wrestlemania 12 match between Ultimate Warrior vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley (YES!); The World Heavyweight Championship Match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 28 (NO!) While we would love destroying Hunter Heart Helmsley in 1:40 minutes, no one wants to beat Daniel Bryan in 18 Seconds. However, if you want to bring back that “Rewrite” mode from Legends of Wrestlemania for Sheamus/Bryan? We’re all for it.

The Unrealistic Options: The Hart Foundation vs. The Bolsheviks (19 seconds); Earthquake vs Adam Bomb (35 seconds); The Legion Of Doom vs. Power and Glory (59 seconds).

We’re not holding our breath for those unrealistic options, but it would be fun to beat The Boulsheviks. And, with the Boulsheviks in the game, you can have them feud with the Real Americans in your WWE2K14 Universe Mode! Think about it, WWE Games…

4. Wrestlemania 17: Gimmick Battle Royal

C’mon. We all just want to play as the Gobbledy Gooker.

5.  Piper’s Pit

Roddy Piper’s Backlot Brawl can’t make it in the game, at least throw in one of his two Wrestlemania Piper’s Pit Segments. Yes, WWE 2K fans. That means Brother Love and Morton Downey Jr. would be characters in WWE2K14 and I know that would upset you, but look on the bright side. You can beat up Brother Love and Morton Downey Jr.! Note: Morton Downey Jr. passed away over 12 years ago and it is a very bad idea to include him in the game. That means you can beat up Carlito with Stone Cold Steve Austin. You would get Stone Cold AND Carlito in the game. And that? That’s Cool!

If you want to find out which WWE Legends will actually be included in the 30 Years Of Wrestlemania Mode, you watch the live stream of WWE2K14’s Roster Reveal this Saturday at 12PM PST.

You’ve got us excited, WWE Games. We can’t wait for the roster reveal. However, if you can’t give us any of those Wrestlemania Moments, at least give us one huge Non-Wrestlemania Moment…

The Ultimate Maniacs!
Note: We are aware that most, if not all of these ideas, will probably not happen.
