So That Happened: 04/22/13

RAW begins with Paul Heyman standing in the middle of the ring. Heyman states that he’s here tonight as the advocate of Brock Lesnar. Heyman reminds us about Brock Lesnar “going extreme” on the Three Man Band and the challenge he issued to Triple H to face Lesnar at Extreme Rules in a Steel Cage Match.

Paul Heyman hypes up Triple H’s answer then reveals that Triple H is not at RAW this evening. Heyman says he doesn’t blame the crowd for booing and he, like the WWE Universe have been let down by Triple H. Heyman says he received an e-mail from Triple H and reads it out loud. Long story short, the e-mail says due to Triple H’s injuries, he cannot respond to the challenge tonight and will respond next week.

Paul Heyman runs down Triple H for not being here this week then calls him a gutless coward. Right on cue, Triple H’s theme plays and he walks down to the ring.

Paul Heyman applauds Triple H for showing up then brings up the e-mail Triple H sent him earlier. Triple H says he lied then grabs Paul Heyman by the tie. Triple H tells Paul Heyman to go home and tell Brock Lesnar that he accepts then hits Paul Heyman with a Pedigree!

Match 01: R-Truth vs. Antonio Cesaro

Michael Cole stands up and raps along with R-Truth.

Antonio Cesaro starts yodeling.

Winner: R-Truth

The Shield is shown arriving in a Helicopter then getting in a car.

Match 02: Brodus Clay vs. Damien Sandow

Winner: Damien Sandow

Backstage: Dolph Ziggler is professing his love to someone. It’s revealed he’s talking to the World Heavyweight Championship. AJ Lee walks up and asks “Zigglypuff” (That’s what she called him) if she’s trying to make him jealous. Dolph changes the subject and mentions that AJ Lee would look hot with a title of her own. Dolph says the title would look much better on her than on her “hippopotamus” former BFF, Kaitlyn. AJ calls Kaitlyn a Water Buffalo then the two start making out until AJ notices Big E. Langston standing there. Dolph tells Big E that to stop creepin’ and that it’s Dolph and AJ time. Big E hesitates then walks off.

Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee start making out again until Team Brickie interrupts them. Vickie Guerrero happily tells Dolph Ziggler that if he loses his match tonight against Chris Jericho, his Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship match at Extreme Rules will be turned into a Fatal 4 Way! Vickie laughs then walks off with Brad “Heartthrob Assistant” Maddox as AJ tells Dolph that she wants to smash Vickie Guerrero’s face.

The Shield Speaks: Dean Ambrose says that for 20 years, The Undertaker has been the judge, jury and executioner in the WWE and delievering his own brand of justice, even though no one gave him that authority. Seth Rollins talks about how no one has been able to stop The Undertaker until tonight. Rollins tells The Undertaker, Kane and Daniel Bryan that tonight, The Shield will make their biggest statement at Taker’s expense. Ambrose says for the first time in The Undertaker’s life, he will know what justice tastes like. Roman Reigns ends the promo with “Believe In The Shield.”

Match 03: Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler

AJ Lee gets on the apron allowing Big E. Langston to hit Chris Jericho while he’s about to do a Lionsault.

The crowd starts doing The Wave:

Chris Jericho joins in with The Wave!

Chris Jericho locks the Walls Of Jericho in on Dolph Ziggler until Fandango‘s music plays and distracts him. Dolph Ziggler hits the Zig-Zag!

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Backstage: Josh Mathews is backstage with Mick Foley. Mathews congratulates Foley on the success of his DVD: For All Mankind. Foley thanks Mathews then does a Cheap Pop for London England.

Josh Mathews asks Mick Foley about the difference between the Attiude Era and the current era. Foley responds by saying the names have changed but human nature has not. Foley says that it’s not human nature for a man to look in the mirror and blame himself for his own shortcomings. Foley used Ryback as an example of his quote, then says there will be no time for excuses when John Cena and Ryback face each other at Extreme Rules. Foley tells Mathews to “Have A Nice Day!” then walks off.

Match 04: Cody Rhodes vs. Tensai

Winner: Tensai

Post-Match, Tons Of Funk celebrate by dancing.

Backstage: Daniel Bryan asks Kane where The Undertaker is. Kane tells Bryan when he’s here, he’ll know it. Bryan tells Kane that they can’t beat The Shield if they can’t go over strategy. Kane tells Bryan that he doesn’t have to worry about The Brothers Of Destruction, but Bryan “corrects him” by saying it’s Team Hell No and The Undertaker.

Daniel Bryan says he’s worried because no one has defeated The Shield then asks Kane to give The Undertaker a call. Kane says The Undertaker doesn’t carry a cellphone. Bryan sees that The Undertaker needs to be here because he came up with a great gameplan for the match. Bryan tries to explain, but Kane stops him and tells him that The Undertaker does not take orders. Bryan says he his diagrams then asks Kane what’s wrong with him tonight. Bryan thinks Kane’s upset because they haven’t hugged in a while and offers a hug. Kane yells at Bryan telling him NOT to show The Undertaker diagrams. Kane tells Bryan that no matter what, do NOT try and hug The Undertaker. Bryan promises not to hug The Undertaker.

Daniel Bryan and Kane get attacked by The Shield!

Backstage: Josh Mathews asks Ryback about his actions last week. Ryback reminds us of John Cena not being there for him then says he wanted to let Cena know how it feels to be attacked by The Shield. Ryback admits he enjoyed the attack on Cena but some people don’t seem to get it. Ryback brings up Mick Foley’s comments about shortcomings. Ryback says he doesn’t look in the mirror and see shortcomings, he sees the next WWE Champion. Ryback calls Mick Foley out to the ring tonight to discuss it face-to-face then ends the interview with “Ryback Rules.”

Match 05: Big E. Langston vs. Zack Ryder


Winner: Big E. Langston


Match 06: The Shield vs. Team Brothers Of Hell Yes

The Shield surround The Undertaker until Kane’s Explosion goes off and Daniel Bryan and Kane run down to the ring.

The Undertaker, Kane and Daniel Bryan brawl with The Shield.

The match begins:

Roman Reigns hits the spear on The Undertaker!

The Undertaker kicks out!

Daniel Bryan gets tagged in and goes for the Diving Headbutt but Roman Reigns trips him up. The Undertaker goes after Reigns.

Daniel Bryan goes for the headbutt but misses. Dean Ambrose pins him.


Winner: The Shield

Backstage: John Cena tries to talk Mick Foley out of confronting Ryback saying that it would be a mistake for Foley to go out there alone. Foley says that in a career full of mistakes, this might be the biggest, but it’s not about pride, it’s about being who he is. Foley says it’s his mistake to make and asks Cena to respect his decision. Cena agrees then asks Foley to do him one favor. Foley agrees as John Cena hands him a chair and tells Foley to take this with him.

Match 07: Fandango vs. William Regal

William Regal does his own dance!

Winner: Fandango

Post-Match, Chris Jericho attacks Fandango and throws him off the ramp.

Match 08: Number One Contender’s Divas Battle Royal (Kaitlyn on commentary)

AJ Lee hops in Tamina’s arms. Tamina puts AJ down then Superkicks her!

Layla eliminates Tamina then notices a passed out AJ Lee.

Layla tries to eliminate AJ Lee but it’s dead weight.

Layla finally gets AJ Lee up but AJ snaps out of it then kicks Layla out of the ring!

Winner and NEW Number One Contender: AJ Lee

Mick Foley confronts Ryback:

Mick Foley says he didn’t come here with the intention of getting into a confrontation, but here he is in London England, about to enter one. Foley says that Ryback told him that if he had something to say, he should say it face to face. Foley says he’s here so the only thing missing is Ryback.

Ryback comes down to the ring in his Ryback Beanie and Ryback Shirt.

Ryback asks Mick Foley if he thinks John Cena giving him a chair will help him out. Foley says when Cena first gave him this chair, he felt offended because he’s Mick Foley, The Hardcore Legend. Foley says in his day, he took on the biggest, the baddest the best, and that he always found a way to get back up even when there was a tooth stuck up his nose and his ear was ripped off. Foley says that he knows that his day came and lef a long time ago so if Ryback decides to hurt him, he’ll go down and he might not get back up. Foley tells regardless, he has things to say and he’s asks Ryback to listen to him and take a look at the footage of Ryback and John Cena from last week.

Ryback tells Mick Foley that knows what he did, and not only did he like it, but he loved it. Foley asks Ryback what happened to the guy who entered WWE last year and took it by storm with three simple words, showed no fear and commanded respect because he demanded respect.” Ryback warns Foley to be careful what he wishes for because he might get it.

Mick Foley asks Ryback if he has any idea how many times Mick Foley was attacked with no one to help him. Foley says he has no idea because he didn’t count them. Foley yells at Ryback saying he didn’t count statistics or chart graphs, he did the best he could and on three separate occasions, that led him to the WWE Championship.

Mick Foley tells Ryback the WWE Universe hasn’t seen the best that Ryback has to offer and that one day he will be the WWE Champion, but asks hin if he wants to become the WWE Champion by walking away from John Cena and watching him get destroyed by The Shield. Foley reminds Ryback that Extreme Rules is coming up very soon then tells Ryback that he needs to “Wake Up.”

Ryback tells Mick Foley to Shut Up then calls him out on constantly sticking his nose in other people’s business. Ryback claims Mick Foley comes out here with his old, archaic messages from the past in an attempt to relieve his glory days to sell more DVDs. Ryback screams at Mick Foley saying he knows exactly what he’s doing. Ryback says this is a results oriented business and he got results. Ryback wanted to send a message to Super Cena and a WWE Championship match and he got it. Ryback says that he will be WWE Champion at Extreme Rules and if Mick Foley, Super Cena or the fans have a problem with that, he doesn’t care anymore.

Ryback calls Mick Foley on trying to lecture him on how to be a man. Ryback runs down Mick Foley’s appearance and mentions the chair he has then asks Foley one more time how the chair helps him in this situation. Foley says “You Tell Me” then holds the chair up ready to face Ryback. Ryback tells Foley to look into his eyes then shoves him until the two get face to face. Mick Foley is ready to fight Ryback until John Cena runs down to the ring.

John Cena and Ryback are face to face until The Shield’s music hits. John Cena walks out on Ryback as The Shield makes their way to the ring.

Seth Rollins Breaking The Fourth Wall:

The Shield attacks Ryback until John Cena runs into the ring and takes The Shield out with the chair.

John Cena and Ryback have a staredown again until Cena hits Ryback with the A-A.

John Cena walks to the top of the ramp then does the “You Can’t See Me” to Ryback:
