The two battled each other in a series of matches in 2010 until the only option left was to face each other in a Mask versus Career Match at Final Battle 2010, the site where it all started. This match was a “Fight Without Honor” meaning it was unsanctioned. It was the last match of the night and the most brutal. Everything was in play: tables, ladders, chairs, chains, the ROH steel barricade cover, referees, other wrestlers… everything! Both wrestlers were bloodied early into the match but that didn’t stop them. Generico finally defeated Steen using a top rope turnbuckle brainbuster and a symbolic chair shot. The Hammerstein Ballroom erupted as Generico’s theme played on the speakers; the fans chants of “Ole! Ole! Ole!” drowned out all sound.
That should have been the end of Steen / Generico but Steen continued to be a nuisance for Ring of Honor in 2011. He spent most of the year interrupting matches and infuriating ROH President Cary Silkin and Head Booker Jim Cornette. Steen was finally re-instated at Final Battle 2011 after defeating friend and mentor Steve Corino. He cemented his return by delivering a package piledriver to El Generico through a table. WAR BACK ON!
