So That Happened: 06/17/13

RAW begins with RicRod who is being booed!

RicRod introduces the new World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio!

Alberto Del Rio asks the WWE Universe about their weekends then mentions the movie Man Of Steel. Del Rio thinks that instead of focusing on a Man Of Steel, the WWE Universe should focus on a man of gold, like himself. In honor of this, RicRod paraphrases the Superman Catchphrase to introduce the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Alberto Del Rio brings up the controversy surrounding the way he won the World Heavyweight Championship from Dolph Ziggler at Payback, then reminds everyone about the way Dolph Ziggler won the World Heavyweight Title from him in April. Del Rio reminds everyone about how hurt he was and the fact that everyone cheered Dolph Ziggler, a coward, instead of him.

Alberto Del Rio says he should’ve been offended, but he’s not because he heard the reaction. Del Rio says he gave the WWE Universe everything, but they never showed him the respect he deserved. Del Rio reminds us of his feud with Jack Swagger, who disrespected the Mexican Culture, but instead of people supporting Del Rio, they chanted “U-S-A!”

Alberto Del Rio calls out the WWE Universe for cheering a pig (Jack Swagger) and a coward (Dolph Ziggler) instead of him, then says that’s what America is all about: Pigs and Cowards. Del Rio says he fought for the WWE Universe for the past 5 Months and it didn’t get him anything. Last night, he fought for Alberto Del Rio and became the new World Heavyweight Champion. Del Rio says he’s going to be the better man in this situation and give the WWE Universe a second chance. Del Rio demands that the WWE Universe give him the respect he deserves.

After the crowd boos Alberto Del Rio, Del Rio continues to speak until CM Punk’s music hits!

CM Punk greets Alberto Del Rio and RicRod then says been a while. Punk reminds Del Rio about Punk beating him for the WWE Championship two years ago then tells Del Rio that the reason he’s out here is not because of Del Rio’s issue with these people. The reason Punk is out here is because he heard Del Rio say he was the best. Punk tells Alberto Del Rio that there’s only one Best In The World and Del Rio is looking at him. Punk tries to challenge Alberto Del Rio but Paul Heyman interrupts.

Paul Heyman tries to get CM Punk out of the proposed match, but Punk cuts him off and asks him what he’s going. Heyman tries to reason with Punk not to take this match because he’s banged up and the title won’t be on the line, but Punk doesn’t care. Punk says he’s glad Del Rio thinks he’s the best, but last night he proved that he’s the Best In The World and wants to do it again tonight. Alberto Del Rio tells CM Punk that he doesn’t want to do this, but Punk doesn’t listen.
