There were several “official” theme songs for Wrestlemania 28: “Invincible” by Machine Gun Kelly, “Wild Ones” by Flo Rida, “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida, “Girl Gone Wild” by Madonna, and “The Memory Remains” by Metallica. However, despite the multiple genres and options presented, only one song seemed to affect the WWE Universe on that night and it was played during the Rock / Cena: Once in a Lifetime Video.
“We Are Young” by fun. connected with the multinational, diverse crowd that descended upon the SunLife Stadium that day. EVERYONE knew the words to the Chorus and EVERYONE sang along. Was this moment instrumental in “We Are Young” winning the Grammy for Song of the Year? Unfortunately, no: the 78,363 person chorus was not shown during the Pay Per View because of the video package. The only other time the entire crowd were that in sync that entire night was when Daniel Bryan came out for his match against Sheamus. Everyone screamed “YES! YES! YES!” for 18 seconds then “NO! NO! NO!” for the 30 minutes.
Will the same thing happened at the MetLife Stadium for Wrestlemania 29 this year? We certainly have options: “Coming Home” by Diddy Dirty Money and “Bones” by Young Guns. Or will there be another song that captures the spirit of the WWE Universe?
